THE DARK AGE VERSE 1: Desperate people Heads down in the dark They see a flash of light And pray the end will make its mark. You and I Have a different view We see our world come tumbling down And grasp for something to heal the wounds. CHORUS: On the downside of the world They can still feel the light But they don't dare look up For they cannot tell the wrong from the right. We can watch it all unfold Here at this majestic height But if we lose our step It's a short fall... into the night. VERSE 2: Men of vision Use the world as a stage Play words to change the truth Their actions turn to rage. We the people Share a higher goal Yet is it possible Can we take the toll? [CHORUS] [INSTRUMENTAL] [CHORUS] VERSE 3: The upside of it all Is that, when we come face to face We see the people From a long forgotten place We can help it all unfurl Or we can come to the light We can stand on common ground But tell me... what will make it right? [CHORUS] OUTRO: On the downside of the world They can still feel the light But they don't dare look up For they cannot tell the wrong from the right And we can can watch it all unfold Here at this majestic height But if we lose our step It's a short fall... Short fall... Short fall... into the night. © 2001 G.Falkins/L. McIlmoyle/W.Depaulo Etcetera Thesis Music from the album 'Bisecting a Circumference'

Kharmic Wheel [INTRO] VERSE 1: So you've lost some friends And can't see a reason to stay Want to pack your bags Hit the road and drive away. It's taking everything you've got Just to give it one more shot. CHORUS: Taken in time All you've really gotta do Is be true to you. Seen over time There's been a thread drawn through Everything you do. You don't need to turn around For everything you've ever done Comes back to you. VERSE 2: So you've lost your way And you've come to the edge of town You want to ask for help But there isn't a soul around. And everything you thought you knew About this place just isn't true. [CHORUS] BRIDGE: You can share a dream If you build it with your own hands But it can still go wrong If you tailor it to someone else's plans. [INSTRUMENTAL] VERSE 3: So you've lost some steam And you're thinking that you should go Before you turn away There's one thing you need to know. Every person that you've touched Is gonna miss you very much. [CHORUS] X 2 [OUTRO] © 2008 Lee Edward McIlmoyle Etcetera Thesis Music for the Thesis album, "Bisecting a Circumference"

I WANT SOMEONE CLOSE TO ME [INTRO] VERSE 1: Another lonely murder You watch the sun bleed out red As you go round to the start You've caught up on your reading And you're fresh out of books On the shelf that you've made of your heart. You can ask all the people That you still call your friends But you just get the same old excuse You've been alone in a crowd Talking to yourself 'Til you walk away thinking 'what's the use?' CHORUS 1: I want someone close to me As far as I can see I want someone close to me No one wants this life I lead I want someone close to me It's my plan for unity I want someone close to me I can't stand the irony VERSE 2: So you walk up the stairs To your mold-covered flat And tune out the world again You've been pushing away Everyone you can't trust 'Cuz they've all become fairweather friends. When you look back in time To the days when you had people Everywhere you wanted to go The solution my friend Is to tell everyone From the start what they need to know. CHORUS 2: I want someone close to me Someone who respects me I want someone close to me Who can stand the sight of me I want someone close to me Is it such an arduous task? I want someone close to me Is it too much to ask? BRIDGE: Maybe it used to be too easy And you've lost the feel for it You could have been someone else If you hadn't climbed down into the thick of it. If you really think about The way you see the whole world now You'd see... a ball of hurt covered in scabs That you can't heal... 'cuz you don't know how. REFRAIN: I want someone close to me I want someone close to me CHORUS 3: I want someone close to me You don't even have to be true I want someone close to me Feel free to turn the screw. I want someone close to me Do I really have to beg? I want someone close to me The things I do to get a little leg... TIME PASSES BY [INTRO] VERSE 1: Each little step you take Is one closer to the finish line But it's getting harder To move forward every time. It used to be a breeze To tell everyone you feel okay But it's not so easy When you lose a year in a day. CHORUS 1: And it's not As if you're asking For a whole lot To get you through You just speak the words And hope they're listening As time passes by. VERSE 2: You see your golden chance To break free from the chains that bind But you're going to need All the good will you can find. You form the words it takes To tell everyone just what you need But it takes a strong hand To till the earth and plant the seed. CHORUS 2: And it's not As if you're begging For the whole world To ease the pain You state your case And pray the words come out right As time passes by. No it's not As if you're dying It's hard enough To live like this You ask for help And fear no one can hear you As time passes by. ©2007 Lee Edward McIlmoyle Etcetera Thesis Music for Erin Burnett and Project Download

KEEP ON GOING [INTRO] VERSE 1: Standing on the edge of fear Standing on the brink of tears Stand up and show yourself Dare to stand in the light. Give yourself room to breathe Give yourself a fighting chance Giving up won't solve anything Give the world a chance to help. BRIDGE 1: And you don't say no No you don't say that you don't really care You just hold out hope That there's hope enough to spare. CHORUS: You don't need to give up all you have You don't need to carry it alone You just need to hold on to faith Keep on going (Keep on going) Keep on going. VERSE 2: Reaching for the brass ring Reaching for a helping hand Reach too far and you might fall Never reach and go nowhere. Try not to lose sight of the plan Try not to let the odds get you down Trying hard to believe in miracles Let us try to make things right. BRIDGE 2: And we won't say no No we won't say the problem isn't there We just hold out hope That there's no need to despair. CHORUS: You don't need to give up all you have You don't need to carry it alone You just need to hold on to faith Keep on going (Keep on going) Keep on going (Keep on going) OUTRO: Keep on going (Keep on going) Keep on going (Keep on going) Keep on going (Keep on going) Keep on going (Keep on going...) © 2007 Lee Edward McIlmoyle Etcetera Thesis Music for Erin Burnett and Project Download

YOU'RE RIGHT [INTRO] VERSE 1: Another day, another full scale emergency Everything you had in place falls apart And you know that it's going to take a small miracle To get things back to the way you had at the start. There you are with the blankets pulled over you Your head buried as far under the pillows As they go and accuse you of making a big mistake All you were doing was showing us that you have the will. CHORUS: You know you're right No more crying You know we're here We're not leaving You know the truth Keep on believing You know somehow You've got to show them you're right. VERSE 2: Here we go, now that's a little more like it Things were starting to make too much sense Around here is the part where we all start hopping To find a new way to help get you over the fence. So they say you're not worth their attention It's gonna take another full scale attack When the going gets tough you can plan your escape Cuz we know before long you're gonna make a comeback. BRIDGE: Some days you can't stand without sinking One step forward and slip to the bottom again With the noise about taking what's given You know in your heart you've got to break the chain. [INSTRUMENTAL] CHORUS: You know you're right No more crying You know we're here We're not leaving You know the truth Keep on believing You know somehow You've got to show them you're right. OUTRO: You're right You're right Your right left right You're right You're right You're left right left You're right You're right Your left right left You're right You're right You know you're right. © 2007 Lee Edward McIlmoyle Etcetera Thesis Music for Erin Burnett and Project Download

THE DREAM FALLS [INTRO] VERSE 1: Our story picks up later on There isn't time to do a full recap You're gonna have to pick it up To figure out where everything's at. Some of the faces are the same Familiar voices in a stranger place So many things you thought you knew Seem to have vanished without a trace. CHORUS: Search night and day For a way you can Puzzle it through Until you look up And find the dream falling All around you. VERSE 2: I guess you know the story well I see you've got the whole thing worked out I guess I should have thought it through Before I ever dared to show you. I don't suppose it helps to say You've overlooked a number of small points Some things I won't be showing you Until you read the final act through. CHORUS: Search night and day For a way you can Puzzle it through Until you look up And find the dream falling All around you. BRIDGE: Maybe I should have given you another hint The ending comes too quick and seems too hollow if you missed it... [INSTRUMENTAL] VERSE 3: So now I have to spell it out It seems you need a frank apology I tried to tell you from the start That this would not end The way you figured it would. © 2006 Lee Edward McIlmoyle Etcetera Thesis Music from the album 'Bisecting a Circumference'

GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS (SECOND THOUGHTS) [INTRO] VERSE: I've seen this place before Where everything feels slightly wrong Not a word seems to come out right And it all reminds you of a song. I know I promised you everything And I still have hope in my heart But every day seems to bring more tears And takes our love back to the start. [BRIDGE] VERSE: Did I ever tell you then How good it felt to look in your eyes? Everything that I'd been looking for Had been hiding behind your disguise. Thought you might have more to say But it never quite reached my ears A part of me has been waiting for you To come clean after all these years. CHORUS: We're going through the motions We've known each other for so long Too much water under the bridge But the current there still runs strong. We still have this strange connection Though we don't always see eye to eye I could never clearly define it And I can't see a reason why. [INSTRUMENTAL] VERSE: So here we are again Watching love in its final throes Playing it out to the bitter end How we got here, God only knows. Never wanted to hurt a friend But I guess that's how love goes So here's the note that I meant to send As the show came to a close. CHORUS: We're going through the motions Though there's an itch under the skin We're both scratching at the surface But the excuses are wearing thin. To be fair I just had a stray thought A recollection from long ago And it's left me with the warmest feeling I thought you might like to know. ©1996, 2006, 2010 Lee Edward McIlmoyle Etcetera Thesis Music from the album, 'Bisecting a Circumference'

WAITING [INTRO] VERSE 1: You say you need some time And ask me if I mind But time is all I have And all that I can find. You said it once again And I took it on the chin Hoping you'll come around Oh baby, where have you been... Cuz here I sit alone Biding my time By the phone Hoping you'll change your mind And that you'll come on home. CHORUS: Waiting Is all I can do For you To clear your mind And find My heart is true. Waiting What am I supposed to do I'm simply doing time Waiting here For you... ...I'm waiting. VERSE 2: Until that day comes by My life will be a lie I'll be trying to deny Feelings I have that will not die. So if you change your mind Just call me on the line I think you know how I'll reply If you want another try... So here I sit by the phone Killing time On the quiet end Hoping you'll come on home So we can start again. [INSTRUMENTAL] BRIDGE: We'll build our lives together Our happiness will never end Every day, perfect weather Our broken hearts will surely mend. And the wounds inside will heal Because nothing can contend With the power of love we feel You know... you truly are my best friend... CHORUS: So I'll be Waiting It's all I can do Until You clear the way To find My heart is true. I'll be waiting What more would you have me do I'm still I'm still counting time just waiting Just waiting here for you... ...I'm waiting. DOS SERVICES (Come Home) Sitting on the back porch I watch the stars above Feel all kinds of lonely Wraps me like a glove Wonder why you leave me Each time you go away Dunno how to tell you Need you here to stay CHORUS: Come home to me Come home to me Come home to me Come home to me Come home to me Come home to me Come home to me Come home to me... tonight The night goes on forever I'll have another beer I just know I wont sleep wishin you were here Got to live your own life Wish you'd change your mind Looking out for something Dunno what you'll find [CHORUS] [MIDDLE EIGHT] [GARY'S RAP] You can see my life, it's waiting in this world I don't know what to say, Girl You can see everything is here to stay You want to be with us, but you just don't know how to Play with the boys and play with the girls Looking for everything in this world I don't know what to say, but I'll make up the words A little rap goes a long way, you've heard. Wonder why you leave me Each time you go away Someday I'll have to let go I just can't make ya stay [CHORUS] © 2012 D.Iwanowski-McIlmoyle/G.Falkins

I'm not sure what his lyrics were, though they were pretty close to mine.

about

This is a collection of tunes the band and I reconsidered during 2006, when we briefly reconvened. The results are kinda mixed, but it's a nice album to listen to, if you can forgive a few bum notes I hadn't time enough to rerecord properly. ~Lee.

credits

Derrick J. Rose wrote the lyrics to Waiting, with a bit of tweaking by myself.
Gary Falkins wrote the melody and some of the lyrics for The Dark Age.
Gary wrote the Dos Services progression. Dawn Iwanowski wrote the lyrics. I just performed it.

Etcetera was a band that made music from 1993 to 2006.

Thesis was a recording project founded by Lee McIlmoyle and Gary Falkins of Etcetera to use up their unrehearsed songs.

The People's Republic of Limbo was Lee attempting to go solo. Not much more to say about that.

ALL of these projects are disbanded and/or cancelled.
